The current district of Les Goudes was built in 1930 in the extreme south of Marseille, in the 8th arrondissement. A former fishing village, it was industrialized with the Friche de l'Escalette (a former lead factory) and transformed by the construction of blockhouses visible along the road and dating from the occupation by the German army during World War II.
