The former monastery and orphanage of the Franciscan community of Notre-Dame-de-la-Pitié (1881) in Deauville has been completely redesigned as an innovative cultural space by the architect designer Alain Moatti. The 4,305 sq ft (400 m²) of the central cloister release a natural light thanks to 14,285 suspended polycarbonate tubes. Bay windows overlook the double arches of the courtyard and allow visitors to observe the sky between the small attic windows around the perimeter.
