Almost 1.2 miles (2 km) long, the postcard-like Plage des Salines is the best-known of Martinique's beaches. Much appreciated by locals and tourists for its golden sand and coconut palms, it receives, according to road counts, nearly two million visitors each year. It includes, at the end of the beach, the Salines pond and its rich ecosystem.
