Along with that of La Hougue, the fort of Tatihou Island is part of the twelve Vauban fortifications registered by UNESCO. It faces the Baie de Morsaline, the Saint-Marcouf islands, and Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue. The two forts were completed in 1699 and ensured crossfire in the event of an English invasion. Ten cannons defend the Fort de Tatihou 65 ft high (20 m), while six cannons equip the crenellations of the terraces of the Fort de La Hougue at a height of 130 ft (40 m).
