Two breeds of Camargue bulls
0
0
The Camargue region is known for the breeding of two bulls breed: Camargue bulls, also called Raço di Biòu, and fighting bulls. The former are essentially destined to bull games characterized by the absence of killing like Camargue races and free races. Fighting bulls, on the other hand, are bred for Spanish or Portuguese bullfights and butchery. A Controlled Designation of Origin label was awarded to Camargue bull meat in 1996 under joint pressure from breeders, slaughterhouses, veterinary services, the Region, and the Camargue Regional Nature Park.
