Puy de la Vache is always associated with its twin Puy de Lassolas, with which it forms a complex of two effusive monogenic volcanoes of the Strombolian type. Monogenic means that they were born from a single eruptive episode emerging from the same fissure. Ashes, slags, and volcanic bombs were ejected around their two craters and built two cones, the southwest part of which collapsed under the pressure of the accumulated lava.
