We came across this beautiful turtle when SCUBA diving the reef of Maputaland, South Africa. The waters of the Indian Ocean in this region are protected by the iSimangaliso wetland park and so is the coastal area. Loggerhead turtles and leatherback turtles come ashore between November and March to lay eggs, and turtle hatchlings can be seen running to the ocean at night. Such a magical place!
