Glazed tiles and geometric interlacing patterns
0
0
The glazed tiles of the Hospices de Beaune come in four colors (red, brown, yellow, and green) which form geometric interlacing patterns recreated by the architect Louis Sauvageot during the reconstruction of the roofs at the beginning of the 20th century (1902-1907). The patterns visible here do not correspond to the original drawings that have been lost. The glazed tiles that largely contribute to the tourist attraction of the building were already present on the model of the 18th-century Hospices, but we do not know when they were used for the first time.
