Disturbing spatial perception

The Path of Emotions is one of the works exhibited in the Jardin des Sculptures of the Fondation Carmignac on the island of Porquerolles. Designed in 2018 by Danish artist Jeppe Hein, born in Copenhagen in 1974, this work offers a shimmering labyrinth immersed in the canes of Provence of the North garden. The rounded general shape of the labyrinth recalls that of the yarrows growing in the meadow where it extends. The entries are multiple, and the variable height of the interior route gives the impression of a moving landscape and disturbs spatial perception. The visitor’s central mise en abyme prolongs this surface game to infinity and allows him to experience the environment differently.
