Fish play a vital role in maintaining the balance of the coral ecosystem. They are consumers present in four of the five trophic levels (food chain) of the coral reef, the first level regrouping the basic organic production. 75% of coral reef fish are carnivorous, 15% omnivorous and 10% herbivorous.
