The practice of stand-up paddleboarding, successful worldwide nowadays, dates back to the days of the Polynesian kings. This activity is accessible in three different ways. Cruising is a short or long-distance paddleboard ride practiced on all kinds of waters (sea, rivers, lakes, etc.). It is also possible to engage in long-distance races over several dozens of miles, as well near the coast as on the high seas. The last one, stand-up paddle surfing, lends itself ideally to the practice of modern surfing. However, athletes must follow several rules scrupulously to allow cohabitation with other surfers, in particular in order to protect them from the much heavier weight of the paddle board.
