Three generations of woodturners
0
0
Robert Marichy is a wood turner who has been daily repeating, for over sixty years, the gestures taught by his father and grandfather. An accomplished professional, he is a craftsman-artist whose know-how is highly praised. He practices his art all year round and makes a living from it. His grandfather was what was once called a ‘peasant craftsman’. A farmer in spring and summer, a turner from mid-autumn until the end of winter, he worked in collaboration with other craftsmen (wheelwrights, carpenters, clog makers, etc.). As for his father, he probably experienced the large workshops which transformed the artisan into a factory worker and strongly competed with the traditional artisanal production.
