Three categories of two-master sailboats

0
The Don du Vent is a two-master auric ketch, one of three categories of two-master sailboats characterized by a mizzenmast (at the rear) smaller than the mainmast. The mizzenmast of a ketch is used to propel the boat and is placed in front of the rudder. If the mizzenmast of a two-master sailboat is behind the rudder, the craft is a yawl, and the second mast serves to balance it. As for the schooner, it has two masts, or more, of identical sizes or a front mast (foremast) smaller than the mainmast.
