Coconut palm (a'ari) and pandanus (fara/paa'ore) are traditionally the two most used species in Polynesia for all types of breading, from construction to utilitarian objects. Other species supplement them in more specific areas : purau (hibiscus) or ro'a for certain types of ropes, reed for wreaths, ie'ie for wickerwork, bamboo for house panels.
