Women or mamas as they are called in the Austral islands keeps lacing in order to craft objects of the daily life (hats notably). More than an art, it is a way of life. A woman of Rimatara stresses that this art cannot be practiced without love. This crafting is being transmitted from mothers to daughters, certainly, for many additional generations.
