A sled is a vehicle without wheels but equipped with runners under the side edges of its carrying system. It was traditionally 'dragged' using animal or human motive power, i.e it was pulled or towed by one or more harnessed living beings. In the 18th century, the transformation of transports, equipments and infrastructures led to the rarefaction of this mode of transport, which was confined to marginalized communities.
