Gray Go-away-birds are sedentary. They live in pairs or small groups. They enjoy acacia-dominated woodlands, wooded savannah, and proximity to water. They have a vegetarian and frugivorous diet. In their natural habitat, they eat acacia pods, flower nectar but also the whole flowers of many species of aloe and acacia, leaves and buds. They frequently come onshore to drink and eat termites.
