Fautea Genoese tower

0
On the Corsican east coast, the Fautea Tower has been monitoring the Mediterranean sea since the end of the 16th century. It is perched 32 m (105 ft) high on the eponymous rocky point. A lime kiln was built nearby to make the mortar needed for building the fortress. The tower was attacked by the Turks in 1650 and was restored in the late 1990s. Since then, it has been classified as a French Historic Monument.
