The morphology of the green sea turtle depends on its geographical area. There are several genetically distinct subspecies depending on the habitat. Overall, the size is bigger in the female whose carapace is between 30 and 54in (78 and 139cm) against 28 to 41in (71 to 104cm) for males. Its average weight is around 353lbs (160kg) but specimens weighing 870lbs (395kg) have been listed.
