This mature leopard tortoise has nothing to fear from this young black-backed jackal. Even if it came closer to play with it, the jackal's jaw is not strong enough to break its carapace. However, leopards or hyenas are able to break it easily. Jackals, and other predators such as reptiles or some birds, can feed on eggs or very young individuals.
