Topography and morning mists

The appearance and persistence of morning valley mists are strongly linked to the topography of the place and the microclimates it maintains. The cooling which causes condensation results from a nightly loss of heat or the passage of a mass of moist air over a cold surface but its enrichment in water vapor occurs near watercourses or vegetation, two elements locally very present around Saint-Claude in the Jura.
