Tiga, an island out of time
0
0
Tiga Island lives to the rhythm of a traditional and convivial Kanak way of life still punctuated by ancestral candlelight evenings. The motor vehicles are rare. The population settled in the north-western part of the 7.2sqmi (12km2) island moves mainly on foot, even if a paved road joins the village of Toka. For its supply, the island entirely depends on the air and catamaran connections with the other islands of New Caledonia and mainly Grande-Terre.
