Threatened by tourist influx

The salt marshes of Hyères extend east and south of the city in a Mediterranean coastal urban area where seaside tourism is the main vehicle for economic growth. The spread of exotic terrestrial species and the appearance of marine algae present potential biological risks for the site. Moreover, the birdlife of the Salins d'Hyères is also threatened with disturbances caused by the influx of tourists. The access to the site is therefore limited and regulated, and parking is centralized in the parking lot of the municipal stadium.
