The current world record for the highest altitude at which a kiteboarder has flown is 34.8 meters. It is held by the Dutch Maarten Haeger who exceeded that of Mike Mac Donald by 0.7 meters. On the women's side, the 23.6-meter-high record is the property of Lithuanian Gabriele Pioraite. The winds blowing in the region of Leucate in the Aude department allow athletes to indulge in all the variations of these wind sports. Kitesurfing or kiteboarding, windsurfing, and wingfoil seem to be the favorites of the sportsmen in the sector.
