The Villa du Temps Retrouvé (Villa of Recovered Time), in the center of Cabourg, plunges visitors back into the world of Marcel Proust. Through paintings, objects, and films, it gives pride of place to the Belle Époque in the interwar period, when Parisians spent winters in the capital and summers in the seaside resorts of the Côte Fleurie (Flowered Coast). The Villa Bon Abri, in a Neo-Renaissance style, was built in 1860 by the Parent family and purchased 100 years later by the city. A large collection of works by Norman artists adorn the different atmospheres of each room. The original manuscript of In the Shadow of the Flowering Maidens by Proust is also exhibited.
