Dense or more fragmented woodlands occupy the slopes of the many valleys of the Valensole plateau. They are made up of coppices and thickets of downy oak trees associated with Aleppo pine and holm oak scrubland on the adrets. The cooler atmosphere at the bottom of the valleys allows a more varied hardwood afforestation with ash, poplar, willow and maple trees.
