This year, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition rewarded French photographer Laurent Ballesta. Biologist, diver and photographer, Laurent Ballesta become the first French to win this prestigious competition. The awarded photo shows groupers in French Polynesia at the precious moment when the female releases a cloud of eggs towards which the males rush in the hope of impregnating them.
