Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is an exceptional red wine. The Domaine du Clos de Vougeot is the ambassador of Burgundy viticulture. This wine estate was a dependency of the Abbey of Cîteaux and operated by monks until the French Revolution. Since 1934, the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin uses the premises for its meetings and festivities. The Clos de Vougeot estate is divided between 85 owners and 134 plots. This vineyard, 0,62-miles long and 1640 feet wide, slopes from 787 to 866 feet in altitude. It is at the heart of the Côte de Nuits and located in the town of Vougeot.
