The Verdon region has obtained the 'Regional Natural Park' label awarded for 15 years by decree of the Prime Minister following the establishment of a charter approved after public inquiry and deliberations of the municipal councils. The Verdon Regional Natural Park was thus classified for the first time on March 3, 1997 and renewed on February 8, 2008 until 2023. Managed by a mixed structure bringing together the 46 member municipalities, the departmental councils of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Var and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur regional council, it operates as a local authority according to the principles of public service.
