The varied sandy coves of Martinique
0
0
The Martinican coastline is made up of four different physical entities - sandy coves, muddy coves, river mouths, and cliffs - resulting from the same terrestrial, marine, and underwater influences. The Petite Anse des Salines and Grande Anse des Salines partially visible here are sandy coves located at the southern tip of Martinique. The more or less bumpy or plan profiles of the Martinican sandy coves result from the different breaking modes. The Atlantic coast displays volutes with a redistribution and a flattening of the sands from the top to the bottom of the coves. The Caribbean coast, on the other hand, shows spillings with a rise in sandy particles from the bottom to the top of the beach and the formation of sandy mounds.
