Located on Place de la Libération, formerly Place Royale, in Dijon, the Palais des Ducs et des États de Bourgogne (Palace of the Dukes and States of Burgundy) now houses the town hall, the museum of fine arts, the municipal archives, and the tourist office. The classical arrangement of its facade, unified by the architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart, is dominated by the Tour Philippe le Bon. The palace visible today corresponds to the union of the former ducal dwelling rebuilt in the 15th century, which became the dwelling of the king and the governor of the province from the 16th century, and of the Palais des États de Bourgogne built from the 17th century.
