The two-seater Voisin X fuselage

The fuselage (without wings) of a Voisin X two-seater bomber is on display at the Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace (Air and Space Museum) at Le Bourget. This French biplane entered service in 1917, replacing the Voisin VIII to which it was related. It was powered by a Renault 12Fe 12-cylinder V engine that developed 280 hp. Armed with one or two 7.7mm machine guns or a 37mm cannon, the Voisin X could carry up to 300kg of bombs. Two versions were available: on the LBR, equipped with a gun, the pilot sat in the rear; on the LAR model, it was the opposite. About 900 Voisin X aircraft were built.
