The two cloister wells
0
0
Presently, two stone wells can be seen in the cloister of the former Dominican convent. In the south-western corner is a Renaissance well with two twisted columns and a capital (photo). In the opposite corner lies the well of the former tailors’ guild of Colmar, one of the few surviving guild wells. Donated to the Unterlinden Museum in 1875, the tailors’ well was located near the entrance to the museum. The extension works undertaken in 2012 modified this entrance by moving it to the north of the cloister, opposite the former Municipal Baths. The museum management then decided to move the well to the cloister where it was reassembled in 2017.
