The transport of materials by animal traction

Percheron draft horses work all day on the construction site of Guédelon fortified castle in the Yonne department. As in the Middle Ages, they transport the necessary construction materials to the courtyard of the castle, whether it is earth for the manufacture of mortar, stones for raising the walls, or beams for the framework. Hitched to carts, Percherons horses can pull up to 660 pounds (300 kilos) of material during each trip.
