Under the large arches of the Arc of Triumph and facing the Champs Elysées, stands the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Its perpetual flame burns in memories of the thousands of soldiers who died in the French wars. The two world wars are always evoked by ceremonies at this place with the presence of veterans, the President of the Republic and associations of Veterans Affairs. It is also there that the flame is symbolically rekindled during the National Day of July 14.
