The timeless world of Robert Marichy
0
0
Aged 88, Robert Marichy still works amid the machines and tools already used by his father and grandfather. He reproduces the gestures seen and reviewed by his ancestors and perpetuates a woodturning tradition dating back to the 5th century in the Saint-Claude region. The lathe hums and long belts still activate large pulleys fixed to the ceiling. Robert Marichy spends his retirement in his workshop, surrounded by the scents of wood, and enjoys welcoming visitors to whom he tells about his craft while creating small wooden pieces.
