Placed between the swing dogs and the wheel dogs, the team dogs are the basic team members of a sled hitch. They are dogs which have the necessary physical condition to be part of the team but still lack the maturity, skills or qualities to be positioned at the head of the team. Some dogs will take four to five years to acquire them while they are almost innate in others.
