The symbol of municipal power
0
0
Located near the current town hall, the former belfry of Aix-en-Provence is a vestige of the medieval ramparts that separated the episcopal and count cities. The tower, raised in 1510 and spanning the street on Roman foundations, symbolized municipal power. It houses an astronomical clock from 1661 whose four wooden statues - representing the four seasons - appear in turn.
