The symbol of mixed cultures

Custodian of the Marseille art of living and of the cabanon culture born at the end of the 19th century, the barquette marseillaise is also emblematic of the mix of cultures that has characterized the city of Marseille and the Mediterranean fishing sector since Antiquity. Inspired by the gozzo, a Neapolitan boat, and the mourre de pouar, a Provençal boat present in Marseille since the 18th century, it is part of the large family of Mediterranean boats common to the entire Mediterranean basin.
