The struggles of artisanal fishing
0
0
Artisanal fishermen in the Var department must have a fishing license to be able to practice their activity. However, in recent years, the attribution of the license has been linked to the notion of active boat and reserved for fishermen going out for more than 180 days a year and catching enough fish. The artisanal workers also suffer from being assigned to a coastal area less than five M (9.3 km) from their port of departure. On the other hand, recreational boaters are allowed to sail up to 6 M (11.1 km), and industrial fishing ships collect most of the fishery resources further offshore.
