The solitary life of the female cheetah
1
0
Unlike males, the female cheetah is solitary. Around two years old, she leaves her mother to find her own territory. It happens sometimes that a female's territory overlaps on her mother's or sisters' territories. She is able to mate throughout the year, according to the availability of food resources, and she will raise her two to six cubs alone. Very protective, she regularly moves her cubs to remain undetected by predators. Despite these efforts, 90% of the cubs die before mature age.
