The sight and smell of the elephant

0
The eyes of elephants are small and sunken, their view is not extraordinary but these myopic eyes and their 1 inch (3cm) long eyelashes are touching. Elephants don’t distinguish colors and, beyond 164ft (50 m), distinguish movements better than forms. Their failing vision is then complemented by their well-developed sense of smell and quality hearing. They have 3 eyelids : upper, lower and one protecting the iris. Their eyes lose clarity and water more and more often with age. Contrary to its appearance, their skin is fine, fragile and very sun sensitive. Its numerous folds increase its surface and allow heat evacuation.
