The seaweed chandelier

At the start of the 20th century, the Art Nouveau style was at its peak. Its reputation was, partly, due to Louis Majorelle and the villa he constructed in Nancy. In the vestibule of its staircase, he had a chandelier crafted by Jacques Gruber, another founding member of the Nancy School, the spearhead of Art Nouveau in France. To match the fauna and flora theme of the villa's decor, he adorned the chandelier with seaweed motifs. The result balances between floral patterns, clean lines, and shades of brown and green on a white background.
