The Schoenenbourg parcels

The Schoenenbourg stands on the northern flank of the village of Riquewihr. Its top presents limestone marl soils dating from the Lias period. The grounds of the rest of the hill date from the Keuper's. They are marly, dolomitic, gypseous. They are covered by siliceous and stony soil, resulting from the sandstones of the Vosges, located further to the west. The earth is therefore light and airy, and the subsoil is clay and retains water. Depending on the vintage, the Schoenenbourg slope can give more or less dry wines, late harvests, or selections of noble grains.
