The Sancy volcanic ridges crown the Dordogne valley and offer a spectacular route between 4,593 and 6,184 feet (1,400 and 1,885 metres) above sea level. They are made up of a succession of vertiginous summits including Puy Redon (5,853 feet / 1,784 metres) and Puy Ferrand (6,082 feet / 1,854 metres) which frame their highest point, Puy de Sancy, standing at 6,184 feet / 1,885 metres.
