The Canigou or Canigó is the sacred mountain of the Catalans. Classified ‘Grand Site de France Since 2012’, the Canigó massif is known for the exceptional decors of its protected environment. Located in the heart of the Catalan Pyrenees Regional Nature Park, it is a flagship destination for mountain hiking enthusiasts. Until the nineteenth century, it was considered the highest peak of the Pyrenees with its 9 133 feet (2784 meters) above sea level. The Pic du Canigou has 466 miles (750 kilometers) of marked trails that allow for the discovery of the mountain, step by step.
