The Lac du Der-Chantecoq is a sanctuary for wild birds. It is important to respect their peace. It is not permitted to walk on the banks of the lake, but elevated dykes have been built for better observation. It is also not advisable to approach the groups of birds. If an intruder gets too close, the ever-alert group will fly away and not return to the area, as their instinct is not to expose themselves to danger again. Common Cranes (Grus grus) are particularly fearful. So do not try to feed them!
