The Explorers
The Puy de la Vache basaltic volcano in the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park is made up of a mixture of volcanic projections. It mainly consists of small porous stone slags, basaltic spindle bombs, outcropping boulders, and massive lavas. Slight bedding of strata a few inches thick is also visible on the 3,839 ft (1,167 m) volcano.
