The Loup has its source in the Prealps of Grasse and travels from the high limestone plateaus to the Mediterranean Sea through wild gorges. The lower part of the river hosts the Rives du Loup departmental park, which covers 136 acres (55 ha) of green spaces spread over the municipalities of Villeneuve-Loubet, La Colle-sur-Loup, and Cagnes-sur-Mer. It is composed in its lower part of alluvium conducive to the development of a mixed forest and, in its upper part, of the steep Bagarée cliffs alternating gorges and limestone plateaus. The Rives du Loup park also allows a walk along the Loup downstream of the Pont du Loup on the localities of Villeneuve-Loubet and Cagnes-sur-Mer.
