The plumage of the African Green Pigeon shows a dominant green tinged with yellow and gray on the head and lower parts. The primary and secondary outer remiges are black. The yellow border of the large covers is clearly visible when the wing is folded. In adults, the curvature of the wings is marked by a lilac spot. The flanks are yellowish and its short beak is red.
